The shop offers fully refurbished mid-range bikes for $45, three volunteer hours, or a combination of hours and dollars. High-quality specialty bikes are priced at half their current value, ranging from $80–$450, with most between $100–$200. Children's bikes are provided free at monthly Kid's Bike Giveaway events. How does the earn-a-bike program work at Erie Bike Co-op?

Accepted Answer

The earn-a-bike program enables customers to obtain a bike for free by spending a couple of hours learning to fix it up themselves with shop support and tools. This combines bike acquisition with hands-on mechanical education.

The shop provides basic repairs on a donation basis and encourages customers to learn how to repair their own bikes using shop tools and volunteer support. Basic repair classes such as Fix a Flat and Bike Maintenance 101 are planned to launch in 2026.

Question 4

What types of bikes does Erie Bike Co-op typically have available?
