Question 1

Does East Burke Sports offer bike rentals, and what are the main rental policies?

Accepted Answer

East Burke Sports rents bikes for full-day periods (10am–5pm) or multiple consecutive days with overnight keeps allowed. Rentals require the renter to be 18 or older with valid ID; riders under 18 may rent if accompanied by a parent or guardian. E-bikes cannot be rented to anyone under 18. Rental bikes cannot be used at Burke Bike Park or in any form of competition or racing.

Question 2

What are the rental damage and liability policies?

Accepted Answer

Renters are financially responsible for all damage incurred, with charges ranging from $150 to $1,500 depending on severity. Damage to paint, scratches beyond normal use, and crashes are not covered as normal wear. If a rental bike is stolen, the renter pays the wholesale replacement cost plus shipping and a $300 labor fee. Full insurance is included for on-trail use only; it does not cover travel to and from locations, off-trail damage, or theft.

Question 3

What is East Burke Sports' cancellation and late-return policy for rentals?

Accepted Answer

Cancellations or reservation alterations must be requested at least 48 hours prior to the rental start date, with the cancellation window closing at 9am two days before the reservation. Refunds are not issued for weather-related cancellations, no-shows, or early returns. Late returns result in a charge for an additional full day of rental with no exceptions.

Question 4

Does East Burke Sports provide repair services, and what are the labor rates?

Accepted Answer

East Burke Sports offers scheduled and on-the-spot repair labor at $90 per hour and $125 per hour, respectively.

Question 5

Can renters customize rental bikes with personal components?

Accepted Answer

Renters may install personal pedals or a personal saddle on a rental bike, but installation must be performed by East Burke Sports staff at pickup. A personal saddle installation costs an additional $20. Frame packs, handlebar packs, and seat packs are strictly prohibited on rental bikes due to paint wear; back packs or hip packs are recommended as alternatives.
