Founded in 1971, Bushwhacker began as a backpacking and hiking retailer in Champaign before opening its Peoria location in 1976. The shop carries Giant, Liv, Specialized, Surly, Teravail, and Shimano alongside a broad seasonal inventory of kayaks, clothing, backpacks, and snow sports gear. Owner Rich, who started at the original store in 1974, positions Bushwhacker as a gathering point for both beginners and experienced outdoor enthusiasts: those starting their first adventure and those who never stop.
