Blackwater Bike Shop was established in March 2000 as Piedmont Bike Shop and renamed in 2002 under owner Davy Hazlegrove. After a total-loss fire in 2009, the shop reopened in its current 6,000 sq ft building in Lynchburg, VA, carrying Specialized, Cannondale, Santa Cruz, and other brands across road, mountain, hybrid, and kids bikes. The shop offers in-house suspension service on forks, shocks, and dropper posts; F.I.S.T. certified bike fitting; and full tune-up packages. It actively hosts road and mountain group rides, participates in trail maintenance, and works with the Greater Lynchburg Off-road Cyclists and Greenway Alliance on local bike advocacy.
