Founded in 1978 by brothers Joe and Al Minutolo, Bar Harbor Bicycle Shop has served locals and Acadia visitors for over 45 years from its current location; the site itself hosted a bike shop dating to 1962. Now owned by Peter and Jill York, both active outdoor enthusiasts and competitive triathletes, the shop carries Specialized, Trek, Cervélo, Salsa, Surly, 45NRTH, Aventon, Electra, and Teravail, with expertise across road, gravel, mountain, e-bike, and triathlon categories. Located less than one mile from Acadia's first carriage road, the shop maintains a rental fleet and offers mechanic service, with staff providing route guidance into the park.
